I won’t lie, the embellishments that came into fashion this year took a while to grow on me but now I am all in. Well, almost all in – pulling this trend off takes some great styling. Whether it’s floral embroidery or studded, similar rules apply. Don’t worry – I’ll teach you! My favorite embellishment of all to style is pearl detailing! There is something inherently feminine and chic about pearls, which I love. But adding them in unexpected ways, such as in the heel of a shoe or sewed onto a top, adds a bit of edge and fun to the look.
The key to rocking an embellished piece is to keep everything else super simple. I am a huge fan of letting one piece be the star of the show – it allows you to make a statement without looking overdone. For this particular dress (which is no longer available online but you may be able to find it in store at Zara), I am obsessed with the super girly vibe from the ruffles and pearls. To play that up, I paired it with a nude heels and a pink lip! I kept the jewelry to a minimum so that I didn’t overwhelm the pearls. Do not pair something like this with pearl accessories. That is too matchy, matchy and will make you look like you’re trying too hard. Not cool! To style it more casually, I would throw my hair up and in a messy ponytail and rock a pair of classic flats, like these.
